Largest student formation holds 1st NCR Presidents’ Meeting for 2012

Student council presidents include Ms. Heart Dino of the UP Diliman University Student Council, Jason Alacapa of the UP Manila University Student Council, Barry Codera of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Student Council, Jana Cabuhat of the De La Salle University-Manila University Student Government, Dawn Po Quimqe of the PUP-COC Student Council, Hanz Ocampo of the University of the East-Manila Student Council and Gio Alejo of the Ateneo de Manila University Student Council.

For the academic year 2012-13, the Student Council Alliance of the Philippines, the largest student council and student political party formation in the country, held its 1st NCR Presidents’ Meeting at the Ateneo de Manila University last April 14, 2012.

Hosted by the Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral ng Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila (Ateneo de Manila University Student Council), the meeting discussed strategies for The Alliance’s major campaigns such as the Students’ Rights and Welfare Bill, Reproductive Health Bill and the SK Reform and Empowerment Bill among others.

The meeting was attended by the student council and student political party presidents and vice presidents from major schools namely the Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University – Manila, University of the Philippines – Diliman, University of the Philippines – Manila, University of the Philippines – Los Banos, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of the East – Manila, College of St. Benilde, and Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

The meeting, to be replicated in other chapters, also agreed to institutionalize the Presidents’ Collective (PresCol) as a genuine convergence of student leadership within The Alliance.

The PresCol will reconvene in Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Intramuros, Manila in May 19 for the formation of the Secretariat and the designation of The Alliance’s new National Spokesperson.
